On My Own
Opening Night in Minneapolis
The rendition of On My Own that made me care about Eponine as something more than just the sob unrequited love story.
An unparalleled clear straight tone alto with an awareness of the character as deep as Eponine’s own self-awareness regarding her lot in life beyond simply her prospects for love.
Plus the “besi-ide me” accidental is the best riff ever.
Jason, could you explain the stitched quote “take this and use it well” which is inside the Enjolras vest?
"It’s a very sweet story actually. When Jeremy left the show he had it embroidered on the inside of the vest. We had always worn the same costumes and when he left the show it was a ceremonial handing over of the vest to me. It was such a kind gesture and I was so touched. He even had it signed. I was so surprised." (x)
